General Location Notes
  • Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary (1992) (Kir): “Kir may be the mountain region, el-Kaiyara, a range that marks the northern boundary of Syria”
  • I’m not sure where this is
  • Qayyarah and Jabal al Qayyarah seem to be too far east
  • Tübingen Bible Atlas (2001) (map BIV13) has "Kasjari" near Marotepeleri, which also seems too far east but is at least plausible
  • typically the northern border of historical Syria has been the Taurus Mountains, but if that’s what this article has in mind (compared to modern Syria), I’m not sure why it uses this name instead
  • perhaps it’s a specific region of the mountains?
