eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
Your eye shall not pity. It shall be life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.
For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!”
Adoni-bezek fled, but they pursued him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and his big toes.
