Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.
And David had success in all his undertakings, for the Lord was with him.
He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.
I pursued my enemies and overtook them, and did not turn back till they were consumed. I thrust them through, so that they were not able to rise; they fell under my feet. For you equipped me with strength for the battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me. You made my enemies turn their backs to me, and those who hated me I destroyed. And David spoke to the Lord the words of this song on the day when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.
Thus Saul died, and his three sons, and his armor-bearer, and all his men, on the same day together.
