So Pilate entered his headquarters again and called Jesus and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?”
When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often met there with his disciples. So Judas, having procured a band of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, went there with lanterns and torches and weapons. Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me. And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen,
No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.
Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place.
