For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,
“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.
But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
