One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.
Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.

But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you.

I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see.
For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.
Not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.
Treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
He is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions,
If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness,
He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.
Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,

So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited.
For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant
Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know.
Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that “all of us possess knowledge.” This “knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up.
Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.
We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute.
I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you!
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
So that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
Lest you be wise in your own sight, I want you to understand this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
Slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
And in the hearing of all the people he said to his disciples, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
And he who invited you both will come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this person,’ and then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place.

And whoever would be first among you must be your slave,
It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,

This is the exultant city that lived securely, that said in her heart, “I am, and there is no one else.” What a desolation she has become, a lair for wild beasts! Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his fist.
This shall be their lot in return for their pride, because they taunted and boasted against the people of the Lord of hosts.

The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, in your lofty dwelling, who say in your heart, “Who will bring me down to the ground?”

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
And the king answered and said, “Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?” While the words were still in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, “O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you, and you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. And you shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.” Immediately the word was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from among men and ate grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair grew as long as eagles' feathers, and his nails were like birds' claws. At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation;
“Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because it towered high and set its top among the clouds, and its heart was proud of its height, I will give it into the hand of a mighty one of the nations. He shall surely deal with it as its wickedness deserves. I have cast it out. Foreigners, the most ruthless of nations, have cut it down and left it. On the mountains and in all the valleys its branches have fallen, and its boughs have been broken in all the ravines of the land, and all the peoples of the earth have gone away from its shadow and left it. On its fallen trunk dwell all the birds of the heavens, and on its branches are all the beasts of the field. All this is in order that no trees by the waters may grow to towering height or set their tops among the clouds, and that no trees that drink water may reach up to them in height. For they are all given over to death, to the world below, among the children of man, with those who go down to the pit.

Our Redeemer—the Lord of hosts is his name— is the Holy One of Israel. Sit in silence, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; for you shall no more be called the mistress of kingdoms. I was angry with my people; I profaned my heritage; I gave them into your hand; you showed them no mercy; on the aged you made your yoke exceedingly heavy. You said, “I shall be mistress forever,” so that you did not lay these things to heart or remember their end. Now therefore hear this, you lover of pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart, “I am, and there is no one besides me; I shall not sit as a widow or know the loss of children”: ...
And Hezekiah welcomed them gladly. And he showed them his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious oil, his whole armory, all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing in his house or in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them.
The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden underfoot;
For he has humbled the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city. He lays it low, lays it low to the ground, casts it to the dust.
On that day the Lord will punish the host of heaven, in heaven, and the kings of the earth, on the earth.
The earth mourns and withers; the world languishes and withers; the highest people of the earth languish.

I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pompous pride of the ruthless.
Ah, Assyria, the rod of my anger; the staff in their hands is my fury! Against a godless nation I send him, and against the people of my wrath I command him, to take spoil and seize plunder, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. But he does not so intend, and his heart does not so think; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off nations not a few; for he says: “Are not my commanders all kings? Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus? ...
“The bricks have fallen, but we will build with dressed stones; the sycamores have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.”

The Lord said: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with outstretched necks, glancing wantonly with their eyes, mincing along as they go, tinkling with their feet, therefore the Lord will strike with a scab the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will lay bare their secret parts. In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets, the headbands, and the crescents; the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarves; the headdresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets; ...

Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin.
Many a man proclaims his own steadfast love, but a faithful man who can find?

A rich man's wealth is his strong city, and like a high wall in his imagination.

Whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to the poor.
By insolence comes nothing but strife, but with those who take advice is wisdom.
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.
Better to be lowly and have a servant than to play the great man and lack bread.
Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.
Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.
Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him:
Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor.
For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly, but the haughty he knows from afar.
Let the insolent be put to shame, because they have wronged me with falsehood; as for me, I will meditate on your precepts.
Their heart is unfeeling like fat, but I delight in your law.
The insolent smear me with lies, but with my whole heart I keep your precepts;
You rebuke the insolent, accursed ones, who wander from your commandments.
Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not endure.
I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn; do not lift up your horn on high, or speak with haughty neck.’” For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up,
They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth.
They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression.
Therefore pride is their necklace; violence covers them as a garment.
“See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!”
Their graves are their homes forever, their dwelling places to all generations, though they called lands by their own names.
Love the Lord, all you his saints! The Lord preserves the faithful but abundantly repays the one who acts in pride.
For you save a humble people, but the haughty eyes you bring down.
Those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us?”
He says in his heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”
In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised. For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the Lord. In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.” His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them. He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity.”
Put them in fear, O Lord! Let the nations know that they are but men! Selah
Therefore men fear him; he does not regard any who are wise in their own conceit.”
It is not the old who are wise, nor the aged who understand what is right. Therefore I say, ‘Listen to me; let me also declare my opinion.’ “Behold, I waited for you
