And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

The highway of the upright turns aside from evil; whoever guards his way preserves his life.
The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.
“To you, O men, I call, and my cry is to the children of man. O simple ones, learn prudence; O fools, learn sense.
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”
Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil,
let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.
