Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.
But you, O Lord, be gracious to me, and raise me up, that I may repay them! By this I know that you delight in me: my enemy will not shout in triumph over me.
And he said to him, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, then show me a sign that it is you who speak with me.
You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. You will increase my greatness and comfort me again.
Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me. I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light; I shall look upon his vindication. Then my enemy will see, and shame will cover her who said to me, “Where is the Lord your God?” My eyes will look upon her; now she will be trampled down like the mire of the streets.
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.
you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.
Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent. For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together and say, “God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver him.” O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! May my accusers be put to shame and consumed; with scorn and disgrace may they be covered who seek my hurt.
Hezekiah also had said, “What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the Lord?”
May my accusers be clothed with dishonor; may they be wrapped in their own shame as in a cloak!
We do not see our signs; there is no longer any prophet, and there is none among us who knows how long.
